What Job Are You Applying For?

While smoking away the last few minutes before I have had my dinner tonight, my memories brought me back to that time back when I was a having my call center stint. I wanted to be a human resources personnel.

I wanted to be in HR because I felt it was a really good position. I would be the one to screen applicants. I would be like the first person (well, aside from the security guard or receptionist) to meet these applicants. I would be the person to interview these people. I would be able to see if they are really worth hiring. It’s like these HR personnel have the power to see who can be given a job and who would have to look for a new one.

Those are my reasons. And thinking about it, this may be because I really had a fun time back in college being a member of the Applications Committee in our org, UP Ibalon. We were like an exclusive committee for we were the only ones who could actually know about how each applicant is faring. We would be the ones to decide what we would like them to do and all that. Well, it’s some way of power tripping. It had been fun back then. And maybe it was also because I had a grand time being an applicant for that org.

Right now though, I do not think that I would like to be an HR personnel for a company that is still starting. If I were possibly given the position to be part of HR for a huge company like PeopleSupport (that company where I used to work), I would certainly want to have a go. But for small companies, it would be quite a difficult job.

Well, that’s just what I think.
