25 Random Things About Me

This has been going on for quite some time now and I have been tagged for the nth time. So I worked on my 25 random things. The rules are to write 25 random things about yourself and then tag several people who would do the same list. As always, I’m changing the rules. I do my list and if you’re reading this and you want to do the list, then consider yourself tagged, okay?

25

1. Even way before this type of meme has gotten around, I have been making a list of things about myself. It is just fun reading through the list after a couple of years to see just how much I have changed and who I was before.

2. I find it hard to stay at home for a whole day. It does not matter where I go as long as I go out of the house each day even for just a couple of minutes. I get a really bad headache when I cannot go out of the house for a day.

3. I am a really messy person. My room is proof. So is my computer. But I do try to sort things out each time I get some free time. But no matter how disorganized things are, I always know where to find stuff I need.

4. I love spending time with my son. I love talking to him. I guess it is because of his innocence and how he sometimes acts and talks like a grown up already.

5. I am not a showy person. You may think that I am always happy but I am not. There are times when I get really depressed or I get really sad or really angry but you will not see much of that on me. This may be the reason why my friends tell me that I can be ‘manhid’. I also do appreciate the small things that people do for me but I just do not show it. I don’t know why I have trouble with showing my emotions.

6. Traveling is one thing that I love to do. If you ask me to go with you to somewhere right now, I will probably go with you (as long as I have some money, of course). It does not matter where we go as long as it is a break from the monotony of the things I see daily. There are still a lot of places here in Bicol that are not ‘undiscovered’ that I would like to go to. That is why I am not quite a fan of going to the really advertised places in the Philippines like Bohol, Cebu, Palawan, and Davao. It is because it’s like I’ve already been there with the photos I see and the stories I hear.

7. I have recently discovered that I have gallstones. And if I get three gallstone attacks in a year, that means my gallbladder will have to go. Now I am taking meds which can help dissolve the gallstones. I hope they work. I do not want to go under the knife again.

8. When I hear somebody say something grammatically incorrect, it’s like I hear a really screeching noise. I also do try not to correct whoever said such because I do not want to appear impolite. But what goes through my mind is, “Could you speak in Tagalog or Bicol instead of using the English language wrong?”

9. Some people will really work hard and save much to get some of the best mobile phones that there are in the market. But I would rather stay with a mobile phone that is easy to use and offers the four things that I need: SMS, calls, alarm, and flashlight. I do not even go for mobile phones that are colored because they get low on juice quickly. My current mobile phone is not colored, has a flashlight, is easy to use and can go through a week before it runs out of juice).

10. I do not wear makeup. I do not know how to put on makeup. My friends keep telling me that I should start learning how to apply makeup but I really am not that interested. I am fine with the way I look. I also hate the fact that I have to scrub my face really hard before I go to sleep if I got makeup on. Compared to wearing just lipstick (the only type of makeup that I put on), life with makeup can be pretty much of a hassle.

11. I am not fond of the cold. I get easily cold. In fact, when my feet get cold, then you will find me feeling cold already.

12. A lot of people love sweets. A lot of people love cakes. A lot of people love salads. I do not. Well, I can eat sweets and chocolates but I can only eat them in small amounts. I do not eat cakes nor pies or anything of that sort. Well, I eat them but a bite will do. When it comes to salads, I hate salads that are covered in mayonnaise or cream. If it is a fresh salad, then there is a chance that I will eat it.

13. I have stopped getting into arguments with people who do not know how to argue. See, it is that there are some who take things too personally and end up making comparisons that are not right. Nothing good will come out of an argument about an ‘intelligent’ topic with somebody who thinks he/she already knows the right side on that topic and will call you names and will give you adjectives on what kind of person you are based on ideas. If I get into something like that, I try to share my ideas twice or thrice. If the other side is still high on a pedestal, I keep my mouth shut and let him/her do all the talking.

14. I hate eating viands that have pineapple or raisins in them. Or any kind of fruit cooked for that matter.

15. From my childhood until I was in high school, I did not know how to eat vegetables. But when I went to school in Quezon City, most viands were meat (pork or beef or chicken). And that was when I started longing for vegetables. Heck, I even eat onions now!

16. When I was still a student, whenever I felt some extreme emotion, I was able to write some really interesting poems or stories or essays. I sometimes miss being able to write really good poems or stories.

17. I do not function well in the morning. I work better at night. Or late in the afternoon.

18. I love taking photographs. And I really love the fact that I can manipulate images if I had my very own dSLR. However, when I think of getting my own dSLR, I just am not that excited to have one. See, I still prefer point-and-shoot digicams because they are handy and are very light. If I had a dSLR, I just can imagine myself lugging it around and getting tired that in the end, I’d leave it at home. And after some time, I think I will probably sell it.

19. At my current age, my peers are either married, preparing to get married, or are in relationships that are heading towards marriage. I am in not one of those and there are times when I ask myself if I am still normal. There is this part of me which still hopes for a good relationship but I sure am definitely scared to try. Plus, a relationship is probably the most that I can handle right now. I think that I am still too young and too financially unstable to tie the knot. And I think that what if something just does not go right with the marriage? You surely cannot just walk out of the door and leave everything behind just because of a fight. Well, as a friend told me, maybe the guy that will make me change my views has not come yet. Whatever.

20. If I probably knew how to drive, I would have maybe gone to various places already even by myself. I love the feel of being on the road while you watch the scenery you pass by. I also am much into seeing new places or sharing old places with new companions.

21. When I was in high school, I dreamed of being a princess. Well, the Princess of Wales. I had this crush on Prince William. I’m so happy that I got over that crush because he just does not look that pretty anymore. It’s really a good thing that I get over my crushes so easily. If I am attracted to a person for a month to six, that is a crush. If I am attracted to a person much longer than that, then that means something else. I have this attraction to a guy for over a year already. I am praying that I forget about it already because it just is not doing me any good right now.

22. I have never gone to a private school. I went to public schools all the way. And, yes, I still want to study archaeology. Plus, study the basics of various languages without being really fluent.

23. You may think that I am quite the happy and bubbly person. Yes. I usually am especially when I am out with friends. But when I am in the confines of my own room, there are lots of things that run through my mind that keep me up until the morning. It is just that I am not the kind of person who would share her troubles. I would rather keep it to myself so that the only person who will be troubled by my troubles will be me. I do talk about some problems I have with selected people but those only touch the surface. There is more to that. But don’t worry. I’ll handle it myself. :)

24. I totally hate insects and it does not matter if they are crawling or flying. As long as they are insects, they scare me. I hate flying insects the most, followed by those that take huge leaps. The rest of Insect-landia follows. I really get scared when I see them especially when they suddenly land right on you after some really wonderful flying or jumping around.

25. My parents wanted their first born to be a boy and they wanted to name me James Russel. But I came out a girl so they had to think of a new name. The first was Pauline Kimberly but my father wanted his first born to have a name that started with the letter R and so I became Pauline Rose. And as with me being born a girl, I know some of you may be laughing already because I can be a female and can be a male as well. Hehe. I am just not too female to be a girl nor too male to be a guy. :p
